STANDING ON THE SHOULDERS OF GIANTS

Each of us arrived here carrying our own history with addiction and trauma. Many of us once believed we had to fight those battles alone. What we uncovered is that true power lies in our connections with one another. In the sober circle of warrior brothers, we found daily accountability, honest conversation, and sharp humor. Our connection with a Higher Power underpins a design for living. Showing up for one another each day became the foundation of a new way of life.

Recovery, for us, is not merely the absence of alcohol or drugs. It is the presence of purpose through our daily actions, and a code of love and tolerance. Honor manifests in service; answering the phone when a brother is struggling, a message of truth when it’s uncomfortable, and choosing integrity when no one is watching. These small, consistent acts shape character and restore self-respect. We assert that proper recovery demands this commitment of service to others.

One of the greatest lessons this year has taught us is that abundance does not come from what we accumulate, but from what we give away. The wealth we’ve gained in sobriety has grown precisely because we share it. When we offer our experience, strength, and hope with others, we reinforce our own recovery. Service keeps us grounded and reminds us why this path matters.

As a new year begins, we carry forward a design for living rooted in spiritual principles. Our past no longer defines us, but by the choices we make today and the brothers we stand beside. Together, we move forward sober, purposeful, and committed to giving freely what was given to us.

I am a warrior in recovery from substance use disorder and post-traumatic stress. My mission is to serve military veterans and first responders by sharing over two decades in active addiction, alcoholism, and trauma, attending treatment facilities, rehabs, sober living, and outpatient clinics. Through my hard-learned experiences, I share how to break free from the bondage of active addiction, alcoholism, and trauma. To live a life of freedom filled with purpose and meaning in service to others.
