Memorial Day Murph

Memorial Day Murph in honor of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy killed in Afghanistan, June 28, 2005.  22 Warriors rocked up to Warriors Heart Lakeside gym to do the ‘Murph’ -1 mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 air squats, and another 1 mile run.  A year and a half ago I could not walk up a flight of stairs or do 10 pushups as I lay in an ICU, my last rock bottom.   That rock bottom is the granite foundation of my recovery today.  I learned that by doing the daily routines and rituals of Warrior Recovery, my body and mind heal.  I continually get better and better and at 57 years young I completed the Murph in just over an hour.  What I have also learned is that I can’t do this alone and never have to.  I have my fellow warriors to connect with daily and keep me on point.

I am a warrior in recovery from substance use disorder and post-traumatic stress. My mission is to serve military veterans and first responders by sharing over two decades in active addiction, alcoholism, and trauma, attending treatment facilities, rehabs, sober living, and outpatient clinics. Through my hard-learned experiences, I share how to break free from the bondage of active addiction, alcoholism, and trauma. To live a life of freedom filled with purpose and meaning in service to others.
